Meet Kishiro Easterling

Mr. Kishiro Alexander Easterling was born and raised in Greenville, North Carolina, by way of Durham, North Carolina. Kishiro spent his adolescent summers in Durham with his grandmother Chrizzelle Easterling, who introduced him to the significance of servanthood. She greatly impacted his spiritual growth and ignited his passion for education and altruism. As a result, Kishiro was determined to seek a quality education and trust God in all areas of his life.

At the age of twelve, Kishiro’s grandmother passed away, leaving him with a sense of responsibility to continue her rich legacy. It was always Ms. Easterling’s desire for Kishiro to attend North Carolina Central University (NCCU). In 1995, Kirshiro enrolled in NCCU and majored in Criminal Justice and Corrections, where he immediately excelled. As a Dean’s list student, Kishiro was initiated into the criminal justice organization Alpha Lambda Epsilon. During his senior year at NCCU, Kishiro was initiated into Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. As a member of a service-oriented organization, this propelled him to become active in the Durham, North Carolina community. As a community servant and activist, Kishiro spent his pastime helping the visually impaired, homeless population, and city officials in multiple capacities.

After college, Kishiro became a teacher at CA Dillon Detention Center and a Rehabilitation Specialist for Mental Health, which led to his current role as a Service Coordinator in Washington, DC. Kishiro has proudly served the Department of Disability Services for the past 21 years. As a Service Coordinator, Kishiro monitors the support provided for citizens with intellectual disabilities daily. In addition, Kishiro provides linkages to medical, social, vocational, and residential services and other types of services to meet the person’s distinct needs.

Committed to higher education and passionate about mental health and public service, Kishiro obtained his Master’s degree in Professional Counseling in 2017. Alongside his duties at work and domestic responsibilities, Kishiro is currently studying to become a Licensed Professional Counselor. In the foreseeable future, Kishiro is excited to start a nonprofit in honor of his late grandmother Chrizzelle Easterling.

When not working and giving back to others and his community, Kishiro enjoys spending time with his family and friends, traveling, watching 90s television shows, and dancing. Kishiro is a devoted husband of twenty years to his college sweetheart and father to two daughters, Addisyn and Averi.
